Cape Adventure Brands and Titan Racing Team Up to Support the Next Generation of Western Cape Cyclists
Cape Adventure Brands and Titan Racing joined forces during the 2026 Western Cape Schools Cycling season to support young riders at grassroots level, combining bicycles, technical expertise and hands-on skills development to help students from Heideveld Senior Secondary participate and develop through competitive mountain biking.
For Cape Adventure Brands, cycling is at the heart of what we do. Through Bikes ’n Wines and iRide Africa, we introduce people from around the world to South Africa by bike. This year, we took that passion for cycling into the local community through a collaboration with Titan Racing, supporting young riders who might otherwise face significant barriers to participating in competitive mountain biking.
The partnership brings together Titan Racing’s commitment to grassroots cycling and Cape Adventure Brands’ cycling expertise, resources and technical support.
Bikes, skills and support - working together
-
Titan Racing provided bicycles for development riders participating in the Western Cape Schools Cycling (WCSC) mountain biking league, while Cape Adventure Brands put those bikes into action.
Our team transported the bicycles to each event, set them up and provided a bicycle mechanic on race days to ensure the bikes were ready and the riders had the technical support they needed.
Across all five WCSC events in 2026, 20 students from Heideveld Senior Secondary’s cycling club participated at each event. This represents 100 participant places across the five races, with some students attending multiple events.
It was a practical collaboration: Titan Racing helped provide the equipment, while Cape Adventure Brands brought the people, logistics and technical knowledge needed to make that equipment available to the young riders at the events.
But the partnership went beyond race day.
Developing skills beyond the race course
-
Alongside the event support, Cape Adventure Brands has been running a series of cycling skills workshops with the Heideveld Senior Secondary cycling club.
Led by our bicycle mechanic, Nabeel, and supported by members of the Cape Adventure Brands team, including a semi-professional competitive cyclist, the workshops combine practical bicycle knowledge with hands-on training in bike handling, braking and technical riding skills.
Students are introduced to bicycle safety and maintenance, learn to identify and understand different bike components, and then put that knowledge into practice through riding exercises designed to build confidence, control and technical ability.
The workshops also reinforce the importance of discipline, respect and responsible participation, skills that extend beyond cycling and into the wider sporting environment. Two skills clinics have taken place so far, with further workshops planned after the students' examinations.
For Cape Adventure Brands, this practical skills development is an important part of the collaboration. Providing a suitable bike creates an opportunity to participate, while developing the skills and confidence to ride and look after that bike helps young cyclists become more capable and independent.
More than a sporting opportunity
-
The impact of the programme extends beyond the race course.
Wendy from Heideveld Senior Secondary School, who is involved in the school’s cycling programme, has seen a noticeable change in the students since the programme has grown with the support of organisations including Titan Racing and Cape Adventure Brands.
She says the benefits have extended beyond cycling, with improvements in attendance, discipline, respect and the way the students conduct themselves around others.
“The attendance with cycling and the obedience and just the respect… has changed this year. The way they treat people on the road and the way they conduct themselves has changed.”
For Cape Adventure Brands, this is an important part of what makes the collaboration meaningful. The goal is not simply to put young riders on better bicycles or help them compete in races, but to create an environment where cycling can contribute to their development as young people.
Wendy also spoke about the relationship that has developed between the school, its learners and the organisations supporting the programme.
“I just love meeting you guys. You welcomed me so easily, even our school and our learners. So I thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you guys have done.”
Creating opportunities to compete
-
The Western Cape Schools Cycling mountain biking league provided the platform for these young riders to put their skills into practice.
The 2026 WCSC league brought together riders aged 6 to 19 from approximately 85 schools for five mountain biking events across the Cape Winelands.
The season took riders to Devonbosch, Bethlehem Farm, Rhebokskloof, Malmesbury and, for the final race on 5 September, Bloemendal.
For Heideveld Senior Secondary, access to appropriate bicycles is an important part of being able to participate. The school's cycling club can include close to 40 students, but there are not enough bicycles to accommodate everyone, and the quality of the bikes available is not always suitable for competitive racing.
The support from Titan Racing and Cape Adventure Brands helped remove some of that barrier, giving 20 students the opportunity to participate at each event throughout the season.
A shared commitment to grassroots cycling
-
For Titan Racing, supporting young riders is part of its ongoing commitment to developing cycling at grassroots level.
“We are proud and excited to announce our continued partnership with the Western Cape Schools Cycling League. Building on the success of 2025, we’re proud to deepen our commitment to the sport. Supporting riders at the grassroots level is at the heart of what we do, and we’re genuinely excited to be involved as a brand in their journey.”
- Iwan Kemp, Titan Racing Marketing Manager
Titan Racing supported all five WCSC events during the 2026 season, showcasing its latest models and supporting development riders through bicycles and dedicated skills clinics designed to help elevate their riding and racing abilities.
For Cape Adventure Brands, the collaboration is a natural extension of our own connection to cycling.
Through Bikes ’n Wines and iRide Africa, cycling is central to what we do every day. Working alongside Titan Racing allowed us to take that expertise beyond our commercial cycling experiences and contribute directly to the development of young local riders.
More than a season of racing
-
With all five WCSC events now complete, the 2026 season has provided an opportunity to look beyond the race results and consider what access to cycling can mean for young people.
Across the five events, Heideveld Senior Secondary had 20 learner participants at each race - 100 participant places across the season - while Cape Adventure Brands' team was on the ground at every event providing bike preparation, mechanical support and assistance to the riders.
The two skills clinics added another dimension to the collaboration, giving students an opportunity to develop practical cycling knowledge and technical skills away from the competitive environment.
With further skills workshops planned after the students' examinations, the development work will continue beyond the race season.
For us, that's what makes this collaboration worth being part of.
Titan Racing provides the equipment. Cape Adventure Brands brings the cycling expertise and hands-on support. WCSC provides the platform. Together, they create opportunity for the next generation of riders.
